Fit up area 8500 sq. ft. for offices and support
areas for new broadcast facility.

Detailed project required careful attention to
grounding methods and applications, co-ordination of broadcasting
co-ordination of broadcasting electronic equipment and extensive cabling
systems with architectural, mechanical and electrical systems.

New electrical distribution for broadcast facility
including harmonic cancelling transformers, panelboards and technical
ground systems.

Uninterruptible Power (UPS)

Telecommunication conduit provisions for local
area network and telephone.

Re-arrange base building light fixtures to suit
and accent lighting in special rooms.

Special air conditioning for electronic equipment
and 24 hour operation.
Acoustic isolation of all noise from base building and supplementary HVAC
systems.The project was noteworthy since power quality was a very
important issue.

Final commissioning included extensive testing
with power system harmonic analysis equipment, to verify that design goals
for controlling the effects of non-linear load currents had been achieved.

Other design issues included special lighting and
the requirement for low air handling systems noise levels.

Letter of Commendation from Broadcast Consultant.

Centre/Communications Facility

New 9,800 m2 high security data centre/
communications facility.

Required detailed analysis and identification of
client/user requirement.
-
Systems included: new diesel generator - 1300 kW,
new UPS - 625 kVA, , fire alarm, fire protection control, communications
distribution, security, lighting, power, motor control, special grounding,
separated high mast lightning protection.

During construction, WBA provided contract
administration support to Defence Construction, prepared commissioning
plan, site performance verification and operations manual.

Construction value $4,000,000.00 - completed in
1995.

Electrical Engineering Subconsultant to the
Architect.
-
Planning studies, preliminary design, design and
working documents, and construction implementation.
-
The project principal was C. L. Wood and the
design leader was C. Dean.
-
C. Marcon conducted and managed inspections of the
electrical systems installation. In addition, Mr. Marcon coordinated and
conducted complete testing and commissioning of all electrical systems to
meet DND requirements. Some systems included UPS, distribution switchboard
emergency generator and fire alarm.
